Oyo Govt Promotes Onilagun of Lagun, Gives Him Instruments of Office

The Oyo State government has presented Instrument of Office to Onilagun of Lagun, Chief Najimdeen Olalekan Bello which indicated the promotion of the traditional Chief to a 2nd Class Status in the State.
While presenting the Instruments of Office at the weekend at Lagun Community Grammar School, Lagelu Local Government, in Ibadan, the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Chief Bayo Lawal commended the people of Lagun and Oyo State at large for their support to the State administration in ensuring peace as well as security of lives and properties of the people.
He added that without the people’s support, tremendous achievements recorded within one and half years of the Seyi Makinde-led administration would have been a mirage.
He pointed out that the present administration was interested in the promotion of traditional rulers’ welfare, with the aim of bringing the traditional institution to its rightful, relevant and enviable status.
Speaking through the Director, Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. Tunde Aiki, the Commissioner noted that the occasion marked another milestone in the history of Lagun and Lagelu Local Government at large.
“Today marks another unique watershed in the history of Lagun and I want to specially congratulate the Baale, Chief Najimdeen Olalekan Bello and all progressive minded indigene of Lagun for your effort towards the promotion of this Chieftaincy to the part II recognized Chieftaincy status.”
Chief Lawal however called on sons and daughters of Lagun to join hands in building strong traditional institution that would be respected by all and sundry.
In his welcome address, the Caretaker Chairman, Lagelu Local Government, Hon. Abdulahi Kelani, appreciated governor Makinde for placing priority on the development of the grassroots.
He stressed that efforts of the present government in the State towards the upward restructuring of the traditional council institution was well appreciated.
The Council Boss therefore urged the celebrant, Onilagun of Lagun to always endeavor to embrace honesty, truth and to be transparent as well as to be a role model whose exemplary life would be worthy of emulation.
In his acceptance address, the Onilagun of Lagun, Chief Najimdeen Olalekan Bello, thanked Governor Makinde and the entire people of Lagun for making the day a reality, adding that he would always strive to move Lagun community forward.
